INTERVIEW WITH MARC STORACE (ENGLISH)

Where are you and how do you feel with the come back of KROKUS classic line up?

MS. I`m living close to the French and German borders, outside the old medieval City of Basel on the Rhine, in the North West of Switzerland. The Krokus reunion of the original 1982 line-up is the best thing that could have happened at this point in my carreer !

HOODOO is a great album. How was the sessions recording? Are you satisfied with the album?

MS. All went very smoothly and on schedule. We went into the studio three times and recorded four songs each time. I recorded my vocals in Stuttgart, Germany and the guitars were recorded in Solothurn, Switzerland. Bass and drums were recorded in Germany too, and some drums in Los Angeles. The songwriting sessions together with Chris and Fernando were very exciting, and we managed to revamp the old songwriting style we had in the early 80`s.

Hoodoo woman (great song) is in the SAW III soundtrack. I imagine you are very happy with this promo?

MS. Hoodoo Woman is the most popular song from the new album, and our audiences love singing along to it. Of course, we are pleased that it landed on the SAW 3 Film-Soundtrack, because this way it receives a vast exposure to millions of music and rock fans who will see this terrifying 3 dimension horror-movie all over the world ! Our song should inspire them to buy the whole new Hoodoo CD !!!

I am a great fan of HEADHUNTER, I think it is one of the 80's best album. Do you agree?

MS. I totally agree. We wrote and recorded those songs in the USA and had Tom Allom producing it. His successful experience with Judas Priest is what made us choose Tom. Headhunter sounds more Metal than any other Krokus album and went Platinum in the USA, spending many weeks in the American Billboard Charts.

With HEADHUNTER KROKUS was platinum in USA and other countries. How do you lived this success?

MS. Our Headhunter Tour was the greatest "live" experience for Krokus ever ! We played to vast audiences four to five nights a week all over the USA, over a period of three months. We were "Special Guests" of Def Leppard, and just for the record, that was the biggest US Tour of 1983.

In that period you supported great bands like AC/DC, Judas Priest and others. How were these concerts?

MS. Krokus toured the USA and Canada repeatedly from 1980 until 1988. We started out by opening for Sammy Hagar in Fresno and ended that 8-year non-stop stint as "Special Guests" with Iron Maiden in New Orleans. Being the first band to open was tough, and we only got 30 minutes each night to prove we could kick-ass, he he ! That got people talking and soon we were invited by bigger acts to take the "Special Guest" slot. We played many of our own headliner-concerts along the way, the most unforgettable one being in the sold-out Long Beach Arena in Los Angeles.

Was there any group you play in concerts with that you consider amazing?

MS. Well, of course AC/DC !

You play a cover of BORN TO BE WILD excellent. Do you like to include covers in your albums ?

MS. Yes, we love the challenge of giving a cover the Krokus "touch" !

Which are your principal influences?

MS. Collectively speaking we all like Judas Priest, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Free, Jimi Hendrix and many more.

Do you think you show the way to other groups in Switzerland to try triumph in other countries?

MS. The only other swiss bands worth mentioning that made some sort of an echo outside Switzerland after our success were China and Gotthard.

Which swiss rock groups can you recomend us?

MS. I know China are writing a new rock album whereas Gotthard, after the terrible sad loss of their lead singer Steve Lee, will need to take some time off, until they can find a suitable replacement and come up with the goods. Another younger swiss rock band worth mentioning is called Shakra.

What concerts are the best of KROKUS?

MS. Of course, the big reunion concert of 2008 will stay in our memories for the rest of our days. The emotions were so high ! This was the first concert in this formation since 1982, so you can imagine what we and 10,000 Krokus fans were feeling that night...simply magic !!! Since then we have played a few Swiss and International Concerts, getting hotter and hotter ! Next in line are the final four Xmas concerts here in Switzerland in December. Don`t miss this last opportunity in 2010 to check out the band "live", because we will later be gone writing a new album !

Recently RONNIE JAMES DIO and the singer of Swiss group GOTTARD passed away?

Do you know them? How are they?

MS. I knew Ronnie and Steve and both were fine gentlemen as well as great singers.

Could you say anything more?

First of all, a BIG "Thanks" to all you Rock Fans out there, "you keep the rockin`world going round" !
